top ten list – fine food establishments

So they say you never know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.  I don’t buy that.  Actually, I think it’s kind of dumb altogether.  I knew I was going to miss the following foods and restaurants before I ever left the states.  And I enjoyed them thoroughly while I was able. But that doesn’t make it any less true that I miss the following.  These are my top 10 food items in the world.  In cases of multiple restaurant locations, I have listed my favorite:

10. Apple Crumble, Drifters — Yangshuo, China

9. Grilled Meat Buffet, Fatties
Phi Phi Island, Thailand

8. Bacon Cheeseburger, Five Guys
Murfreesboro, Tennessee

7. Tang Cu Li Ji, Orange Tablecloth — Wuhan, China

6. Country Ham and Biscuits, Loveless Cafe Nashville, Tennessee

5. Grilled Porkchop, Hard Eight BBQ
Stephenville, Texas

4. Fajitas and Chips, San Antonio Taco Company
Nashville, Tennessee

3. Hot Fudge Cake, Dari-Delite
Tracy City, Tennessee

2. Fried Chicken Fingers, McDougal’s
Nashville, Tennessee

1. Ribeye, Conestoga Steakhouse — Dothan, Alabama

I’ve only eaten at one of these establishments, and I heartily disagree with its inclusion.

  2. Well, then, Teddy-O… you’ll be happy to know the last time I was in Wuhan (summer 2007), the Orange Tablecloth was closed. They were doing construction out on Wuluo Lu, and so, the best restaurant in all of China didn’t make it. Of course, I’m not sure that it didn’t reopen after construction ceased…

Hey guys…Orange Table cloth is out for the count. Things have changed much in our fair city of Wuhan. It now has the world’s fastest rail line in it. You can go from Guangzhou to Wuhan in like 3.5 hours. My father-in-law makes a mean Sweet and Sour Pork. If you ever get nostalgic come for a visit and I am sure he could oblige you. Congrats on Baylor. I hope that you are getting enough sleep. We are a bit tired.
